Hayes & Yeading moved back to the top of the tree courtesy of a 4-1 victory over bottom side Wimborne Town in Dorset while previous leaders Metropolitan Police were held goalless at Imber Court by Truro City. Despite the match having five goals, to be totally honest that was about it with neither ‘keeper making a save and very few near misses to account for either as this was a game fought out in the middle of the park with more missed passes than connections for both sides however it was United who took maximum points courtesy of yet another Moses Emmanuel hat-trick and a cracker from Jordan Ngalo. It was fully 30 minutes before either side could muster a shot, it came for United as Omar Rowe set the ball aside to Francis Amartey inside the box on the left, his dangerous pull-back towards Moses Emmanuel was blocked out for a corner that was to come to nothing. The next opening came on 39 minutes as Emmanuel collected the ball in an advanced position, his neat interaction with Kadell Daniel saw the ball returned to United’s top scorer and despite being off balance he fired past home stopper Gerard Benfield into the roof of the net. Three minutes later he had another, moving onto a fine Cole Brown throughball he coolly slotted the ball past the on-coming Benfield and from nowhere United had a two goal advantage. As we hit stoppage time a first sortie at the United goal from the home side saw Dan Bartlett fire in a free-kick from the left side that John White met but his header was well over and the half ended at 2-0 to United. The first attack of note saw the hosts pull one back just over ten minutes in when a hopeful punt forwards saw hesitation at the back from United’s defence and with debutant ‘keeper Marcin Brzozowski coming to claim but failing to get there, Aaron Roberts cleverly chipped the ball over everybody into the unguarded net. On the hour a neat ball into the hosts area found Emmanuel, he turned his marker and curled a low shot past Benfield only to be denied a hat-trick by a superb goalline clearance from White who slid the ball away to safety. The best goal of the game came on 73 minutes, Josh Payne’s corner kick from the left was cleared back to the versatile United man, his chip back into the box was only cleared as far as Jordan Ngalo who fired an inch perfect chip from 25 yards that flew over Benfield into the top far corner of the Magpies net to ease any nerves United may have had after conceeding. Emmanuel was not to be denied another match ball though as virtually with the last kick of the game substitute Jack Connors dispossessed Owen Palmer just inside the Magpies box on the left side, his low centre picking out a sliding Emmanuel who bagged his 34th goal of the season.
